RTD
The Road To Damascus Programme is the name of our internal rehabilitation programme which is accredited by the CPD. The programme was introduced to help NEET young people who reside within our placements. Many children in care are NEET, and often they have spend considerable periods of time out of education. Subsequently many of them fear having to return to a competitive academic environment. In addition, many of these young people are NEET due to expulsion from school or lack of attendance. In a majority of instances this is closely connected Adverse Childhood Experiences.
The course enables our young people to develop the appropriate rehabilitative strategies and components required to help our service users manage their emotions and understand how to cope with their trauma and anxiety. The Core modules of the programme ( first half ) are specifically based around this helping our young people work on the issues that are internally impacting them.
Due to significant demand, we have developed the programme to specifically facilitate to the general needs of the cohort we are working with. This has enabled us to work with a range of young people with a variety of needs, whilst still upholding the programmes principal objective.
Each young person who participates in the curriculum and completes the course will, at its conclusion, obtain a vocational credential recognised by the CPD. This certificate for the course will demonstrate that the participant has invested the time to in-depthly explore their past and have a better understanding of how to control their undesirable behaviour in a wise and responsible manner. This knowledge will give them the groundwork they need to contribute positively to society or to enter a competitive workforce by:
-
Helping our participants to understand that they are not to blame for ACE’s.
-
Helping our participants to understand the value that they have to the community.
-
Giving our participants the confidence to demand success and to plan for it.
-
Giving our participants the confidence to demand success in their future and the tools to plan for it.
Our Curriculum was so successful we recently offered it to the local 6th form, to show proof of concept outside of a residential setting.
Take a look at the documentary that we filmed about this amazing experience.
